What type of computer and software do I need for this course? This course works best on a PC which runs Microsoft Word 1998, 2000 or XP. You will also need the latest versions of Powerpoint and Acrobat Reader. These may be installed at no cost. Instructions are given under the Pre-Course Activities icon on the Homepage of the course. Instructions for installing Ukrainian fonts are also given. How can I access a high school Ukrainian course for credit? There are a number of places in Saskatchewan which offer high school credit courses in Ukrainian. They are listed below.
If you cannot sign up for one of the courses listed above, the Ukrainian Education Consultant with the Ministry of Education may be able to discuss other options with you.
Can I take this course for credit if I am a student living in a different province or country? You will receive a Saskatchewan high school credit if you take this Ukrainian course in Saskatchewan . For example, if you attend the Summer Immersion Program offered at Mohyla Institute, you will receive a Saskatchewan credit which is often recognized by other provinces. If you live outside of Saskatchewan , you should consult your school division or provincial Department of Education for information and options. If there is a Ukrainian language teacher in your area who can be your tutor, you are welcome to use e-mova: Core Ukrainian 20 as your program of study. Is there a course prerequisite? Yes. In Saskatchewan, you are required to have a high school credit for Core Ukrainian 10 before beginning the next level of instruction. If you are a competent Ukrainian language speaker or have previous experience with Ukrainian language learning, you may not need to begin with Core Ukrainian 10. Speak with your course instructor to find out whether you may be eligible to write a course placement test. If you score 80% or higher on the course placement test, you will be allowed to proceed to Core Ukrainian 20. Who do I contact if I have any questions?
