This lesson will focus on building your capacity to repeat, remember and understand the vocabulary which has been presented in the dialogue. You will notice that Steps 1 & 2 are repeated from the Introductory Lesson. This repetition is recommended for additional practise in pronunciation and comprehension of vocabulary in Dialogue 9.

Dialogue 9 – Oral Comprehension Follow the same procedure as outlined previously. To refresh your memory, the directions are repeated below: Step 1: View Slides --- Listen to Audio Clips View the PowerPoint (PPT) Slide presentation. Listen to Dialogue 9 – Товариші, using either the web link given below or the CD ROM which has been provided. Click on the Audio button to hear the audio clips.

Step 2: View Slides --- Listen to Audio Clips --- Repeat Listen to the dialogue again, and echo-read (repeat what you hear) after each audio clip. Pay particular attention to the stresses on words and the intonation pattern in the sentences. Step 3: View Slides --- Add Text --- Listen to Audio Clips --- Repeat Repeat the process above, this time adding the visual language cues provided in the Text (T) button. Listen to the Audio clip and repeat the dialogue once again. Step 4: View Slides ONLY --- (no audio) --- (no text) Repeat the process without using the audio-visual support (if possible). You provide the audio component. A Cumulative Dialogue Box (P) is available to assist you if you are having difficulty with recall. Review the pattern of the dialogue several times until you can easily remember the flow of conversation. Use the course dictionary provided at the end of each lesson if you are having difficulty understanding some of the new terms. Test your memory! Place the conversation found in Dialogue 9 in the proper order, using only the visuals below to assist you.

After you have completed the exercise, check your answers by reviewing the PPT Presentation. Repeat the dialogue as many times as necessary until you can easily remember the flow of conversation.

Reflection: Underline the words in Dialogue 9 which were the easiest to remember. Highlight the words which were more difficult for you to remember. Pay specific attention to these words as you work through the remainder of the Unit.
