It is time to review the Learning Outcomes which were presented at the beginning of Unit III.

1. To demonstrate a growing degree of competence in writing and pronouncing more complex words in Ukrainian.

•  You have been introduced to more complex Ukrainian words such as sports terms, and the names of Canadian cities and provinces.

2. To participate in activities which reinforce listening, speaking, writing and reading in Ukrainian on the topic ‘Tickets to the Game'.

•  While working through the Unit and practise exercises, you listened to the dialogue, repeated the phrases, practised new vocabulary related to the unit topic, read several passages, and completed several writing assignments.

3. To display appropriate Ukrainian pronunciation skills for a variety of cognates, with a focus on Canadian cities and provinces.

•  The names of Canadian cities and provinces were introduced in the Unit. You were asked to read and learn these new cognates, as well as their location on a map of Canada .

4. To gain competence in using the Group I conjugation of Ukrainian verbs with personal pronouns.

•  Two new verbs in this Group were introduced: грати, мати

5. To use appropriate question-answer techniques, inverted sentence order and prepositions when speaking about attending an event, such as a sports game or a concert.

•  Inverted order was introduced in the phrase: Грають Вінніпеґ і Саскатун. You were able to practise using the prepositions у(в), на, and про when speaking about sports, teams and locations.

Now you are ready for the Unit III Assignment. The entire assignment is to be sent by FAX to your instructor by the date given in the Student Calendar.

Unit III: Part 1 – Oral Assignment - 54 marks

The Oral Assignment will be conducted during a pre-arranged teleconference with your instructor. You will be asked to read the passages given below. Pronunciation, intonation and proper accents are important.
